Our team is registered for 2 ten team tournaments today on FSL.  7 player, 220 point cap structure.

Putting Gasol ($31) at center.  Not many options at center today and Gasol is the best of the bunch.

I’m playing Hakim Warrick ($14) at one forward spot.  If he can give us 22-24FP, I’ll be happy.  Dirk Nowitzki ($36) gets a forward spot and Chris Bosh ($35) gets the last forward spot.  Bosh was a questionable call here as I could have gone with Garnett, Boozer, Al Jefferson or Anthony.  Jefferson’s matchup was bad, Boozer has a road game, Garnett may not get 35 minutes, and Anthony may or may not have a shoulder problem.  I’m going the safe route with Bosh.

At guard, I’m going with the red hot Andre Miller ($27), Allen Iverson ($38) and Baron Davis ($38).  Iverson gets a nice home game v. a soft LAC team and Baron will get big minutes in what could be a high scoring game in Philly.

Good luck and check out the blog every day for our tournament results.

Two money finishes for Thursday

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Both tournaments filled on Thursday and we managed a second and a third place finish.  The team wasn’t spectacular, but with only 3 NBA games, we did outperform the salary cap, putting up 220 points.  The team scored as follows:  Redd (37), Carter (28), Ginobili (25), Odom (30), Jefferson (30), Duncan (51) and Blount (19).

I will have today’s draft board up by noon and our picks shortly thereafter.  I also got more first base notes up on the baseball draft board.  I hoping to get into the second basemen later today, so check back.

Fantasy Baseball Top Ten First Basemen

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

I’ve got my top ten first base spring training rankings and notes up on the draft board in the Baseball Draft Room.  It is a tough call for the top few spots.  Kind of like choosing between Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima.  No matter what order you place them in,  you can’t really get it wrong.

Each of these guys does have their quirks though and some will be playable on certain days while others are not.  It isn’t like a traditional league where you take Ryan Howard and just ride with him the whole year.  Even with elite, all star players, daily matchups will be the key.

I’ll try and finish the bottom ten first basemen tomorrow.

Fantasy Basketball Tournament Roster for Thursday 2/28

I have signed up for 2 separate ten team tournaments on FSL, but I’m not sure that both will fill on such a thin NBA day.  We are playing a 7 player, 200 point cap game with the roster.

It all depends on the center position today.  Either go expensive with Gasol at $31 or cheap with Blount at $13.  I’m going with Blount.  Hopefully, he gets his 30 minutes and can put up 20-23FP.

Stick with Vince Carter ($32) at one guard.  He is running the team and will continue to get good minutes until it becomes clear that NJ won’t make the playoffs.  Michael Redd ($31) gets a guard spot.  Manu Ginobili ($31) gets the last guard spot.  I didn’t have enough money to get D. Wade and Manu was the best thing left on the board today.

I’m going with Richard Jefferson ($30) at one forward spot.  Ride him while he is hot.  Tim Duncan ($35) gets the second forward spot.  It was a tough decision between Duncan and Nowitzki, but the game being in San Antonio pushed me to choose Duncan.  Also, I don’t think either will have a big scoring night, and Duncan is the better bet to still put up good FP without the scoring category.  Lamar Odom ($27) gets the last forward spot.  The cap was low today and he was all I could afford.  I’ll be happy with an average 27FP night.

Good luck and check back close to game time for any updates.  Also, I’ll try and get some First Base baseball notes up later today.

Back in the Win Column

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Our contest roster took down the 10 team tournament yesterday scoring a first place win.  For some reason, just like Tuesday, only one of the ten team tournaments filled.   The roster put up 263 total points with Paul (51), A. Miller (40), Iguodala (38), Bosh (34), Boozer (31), Thornton (16) and Stoudemire (53).  The nice thing about these ten team tournaments is that you don’t have to win very often to make a profit.  50%  of the prize pool goes to the winner, 30% to second place and 20% to third place.     Every $1 that you bet produces $4 worth of profit with a win.

Only three NBA games today.  We will probably only be able to fill one ten team tournament with such a thin schedule.  I’ll be back at lunchtime with today’s draft board and our picks.  I’ll also try and get some baseball notes up for first base.  Check out the catcher notes from yesteday if you missed them.  Meanwhile, the snow continues to fall here.  I hate snow.

Tournament Roster Update for Wednesday 2/27

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Reports are coming out that Carmelo Anthony may be having some shoulder problems.  I’m not sure of the severity, but with a game against a weak Seattle team, Anthony could see some extra rest.  I’m replacing Anthony on the roster with Carlos Boozer.  I don’t think the replacement is absolutely necessary, but sometimes it is better to be safe.

Jonesing for some baseball?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

I’m watching it snow and putting together some catcher notes.  Just doesn’t seem right.   For all you guys who need your baseball fix, I’ve put up some notes and preliminary rankings on the baseball draft room homepage for the catcher position .  Keep in mind that the notes are for daily draft game purposes, not season leagues, not keeper leagues, just daily draft leagues.

Catcher, as usual, is an ugly position.  There look to be six dependables and the rest are matchup dependent.  Baseball, more than any other sport, is a day by day handicapping process.   Day to day matchups are the entire game.  Sometimes a guy you would never play ends up at the top of the daily draft board because he has an awesome matchup.

I’ll try and get some First Base rankings up tomorrow.  Don’t forget to sign up over on the Fantasy Forums for the Fantasy Sports Handicapping Baseball League.

Fantasy Basketball Contest Roster for Wednesday 2/27

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments on FSL today with our fantasy basketball betting contest roster.  7 player, 220 point cap structure.

At guard I’m going right to the top of the daily draft board and taking Chris Paul for $38.  He has a home game v. a high scoring Phoenix team.  Matchups just don’t get much better than that.  At the other guard positions I’m going with Andre Miller ($27) and Andre Iguodala ($32).  This is another one of those exceptions where I’m going with two members of the same team.  Philadelphia last played on Saturday so they should be well rested and they get this game at home.  Orlando and Philly played last Friday with Miller putting up 35FP and Iguodala putting up 34FP.  I expect similar this time as the game should be close.  Orlando has averaged 112 points per game this year against Philadelphia and this one should be a similar high scoring contest.

At forward I’m going with Chris Bosh ($35).  He is playing a home game v. Minnesota.  Carlos Boozer put 34 points and 8 rebounds on MIN last night and I expect Bosh can do the same.  Carmelo Anthony ($36) gets a forward spot facing a weak defense in Seattle.  The last forward spot goes to Al Thornton ($16).  Al gets a nice home game v. a weak Portland team.  Sam Cassell and Chris Kaman both look to be out tonight, so Thornton should get his 30 minutes and put up 20-22FP.  Anything more is gravy.

Put Amare Stoudemire at center.  Amare put up 26 points and 20 rebounds in his last game v. NO.  That game was an overtime 132-130 contest.  I expect these two teams will again have a high scoring game and Stoudemire should put up good numbers.

Good luck.  I’m taking my first in depth look at baseball today and I’m hoping to have a few notes up later this afternoon.  I’m going to try and review the Catcher position and maybe First Base if time permits.

Artest Cools

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Only got one tournament to fill on Tuesday and we missed the money in it due to a bad night by Artest who put up only 16 points.  Overall the team put up 201 points with Wade (26), Carter (43), Davis (37), R. Jefferson (27), Artest (16), Warrick (30) and Howard (25).

Wednesday’s daily draft board is up and I will post our tournament picks Wednesday afternoon.

Tournament Roster for Tuesday 2/26

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments with our fantasy basketball betting roster.  The structure for both tournaments is 7 player , 220 point cap on FSL.

At guard we are going with Vince Carter ($32), Dwyane Wade ($36) and Baron Davis ($38).  Hopefully, Carter’s shoulders don’t get tired from carrying the team.  Wade and Davis are fairly steady performers.

At forward I’m going back to Hakim Warrick ($14).  He hasn’t really had a bad game since being inserted into the starting lineup and if he can just put up 22-24FP, I’ll be happy.  Richard Jefferson ($30) gets one forward spot and Ron Artest ($31) gets the other.  Jefferson has seen his scoring average soar since Kidd left and hopefully that continues.  Ride Artest until he cools.

Put Dwight Howard ($39) at center.  Normally, I’d go with Ming, but his hip problem scares me.  Maybe Howard has one of those monster games that can win a tournament.

Good luck and check back close to game time for any updates.  Also, don’t forget to sign up for the Fantasy Sports Handicapping Baseball League.  You can find the signup thread over on the Fantasy Forums under Fantasy Baseball.
