Update for tonight’s tournament roster

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Looks like there might actually be something to the Vince Carter/Eddy Curry trade rumors so I’m going to play it safe and waive Vince Carter and fill his spot with Michael Redd at the same $31.    I’m not crazy about Redd’s matchup, but they are at home against a Detroit defense that is playing back to back games.   Milwaukee isn’t going to score on the interior, so they may be forced to let Redd try and light it up from outside.  Rashard Lewis put up 30 FP on DET last night, so I think Redd could duplicate that.

 Good luck.

We are working with a 7 player, 220 point cap today.  The team below has been entered in two 10 team tournaments at FSL.  I’m going with the same Studs and Duds strategy I used yesterday.  Hey, if it ain’t broke…

Hakim Warrick ($11) again gets the dud label.  28 Fantasy Points for $11 and he can have any label he wants.  Put Warrick at Forward and let’s build around him. I’m going with LeBron James ($47) at Forward.  Expensive, but you get what you pay for.  Put Artest ($31) at the other Forward position.  Artest had a 38FP game last night and hopefully he stays hot at home.

Guard was a tough call today.  There are a lot of options that are similar, and none that really stand out.  I’m going with A. Iguodala ($32), V. Carter ($31) and P. Pierce ($31).   Iguodala had a bad night last night and still put up 25FP, so I’m hoping that returning home against a weak Knicks team will improve his stats.  Paul Pierce is going against an extremely weak Golden State defense and he should be able to dominate.  He will also be the leading scoring option for a Boston offense that will have no choice but to run with the high scoring Warriors.  Vince Carter is the risky pick here.   Kidd is gone and the team has to be run by someone.  The job looks to fall to Carter.  I’m looking for him to put in 40 minutes tonight and earn at least $31 worth of Fantasy Points.

Put A. Stoudemire ($36) at Center.  Stoudemire is at home going against a high scoring Lakers team.  He should have a good offensive game tonight.

I have put the team in two 10 man tournaments and I’ll post the results tomorrow.

Good luck

Yesterday’s fantasy basketball roster wins both 10 man tournaments on FSL

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

We won both 10 man tournaments that we entered with yesterday’s daily draft fantasy roster.  The roster scored as follows:

D. Williams(47),  Pierce(35), Iguodala(25), Warrick(28), Artest(38), Boozer(26) and Ming(33).  The salary was $207 and the team produced a total of 232 Fantasy Points.  It could have been better as Ming shot 3 for 17 and Iguodala had an off night as well.  We really got a good night from D. Williams and Artest, while our sleeper, Hakim Warrick, put us over the top with 28 Fantasy Points for a salary of only $11.

I’m adjusting the draft board format a little bit today.  Instead of breaking the board into 4 tiers, I’m going to list the top 20, as well as 5 bargain bin players.  Some have said the tier system is a little too confusing.  Stick with players on the top 20 and you will do just fine.  If for some reason you can’t afford any player on the top 20 board, look in the bargain bin for a good roster filler.  You will find players in the bargain bin like Hakim Warrick, they are cheap, but can many times put up numbers just as good as Iguodala or Boozer, although they are risky bets to do so.

Hope you guys had equal success with the roster.  I’ll be back later with Wednesday’s fantasy basketball daily draft roster.
