Only 3 NBA games today.  We are playing 2 ten team tournaments with our fantasy basketball tournament roster.  The structure is a 7 player, 200 point cap game on FSL.

We have a low cap of 200 points today, so we have to find a couple of bargains.  At forward, I’m going to give Al Thornton ($16) a shot.  He had one of his worst games last time out, but hopefully it was just an off night.  At the other forward spots I’m going with Nowitzki ($36) and Corey Maggette ($30).  Nowitzki should have a big game and Maggette should be the primary scoring option with Tim Thomas still out.

At Guard, I’m taking the top of the board in Chris Paul ($37).  I’m hoping Paul can have a big night to compensate for some of our other weak roster spots.  Andre Miller ($27) and Andre Iguodala ($32) get the other two spots.  Keep riding them until they are out of the playoff race.

Put Mehmet Okur ($21) at center.  Okur is risky, but he has put up two big lines in his last two games.  We just don’t have enough money today to get anything better.

Good luck.  Also, if for some reason the blog isn’t loading or is down, you can always get the picks on the Fantasy Sports Handicapping main website on the basketball draft room homepage.

No money on Sunday

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Only got one tournament to fill due to the early tipoff and we didn’t have any luck in that one.  The team put up a total of 200 points with McGrady (34), Redd (31), Ginobili (22), Duncan (27), Bargnani (13), Nowitzki (52) and Camby.  That is two disappointing games in a row for Duncan.

A small NBA schedule today.  I’ll have the draft board up this afternoon, along with our tournament picks.

Playing 2 ten team tournaments with our fantasy basketball betting roster.  7 player, 210 point cap on FSL.

At guard, I’m going with T. McGrady ($32), Michael Redd ($31) and Manu Ginobili ($31).

At forward it’s Nowitzki ($36), Duncan ($35) and Bargnani ($14).  Barganani should get good minutes with Bosh out, but I suspect many other teams will start him also.

Put Camby ($31) at center.

Sorry for the delay today, sometimes it takes longer than you think to get a 4 year old ready for Church.  Good luck.

Two Money Finishes for Saturday

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

We grabbed 3rd place in both 10 team tournaments on Saturday with a decent showing of 231 total points.  Individual scores were A. Miller (46), Ginobili (41), Redd (24), Duncan (19), Boozer (33), Warrick (30) and Stoudemire (38).  Duncan was a bit of a disappointment last night, as was Michael Redd.

There are 11 NBA games on the schedule for Sunday, with the first game tipping off at 1:00 Eastern.  I’ll have the draft board and tournament picks up by noon.

Also, just a note, I’m going to be playing some of the World Series of Poker Circuit Events at Caesars in Atlantic City this week, so I’ll be out from Wednesday through Saturday.

Fantasy Basketball Betting Tournament Roster for Saturday 3/1

Maybe today we will get to play longer than 9 minutes.  I’m playing 2 ten team tournaments with our contest roster.  7 player, 210 point cap on FSL.

Starting it off with Amare Stoudemire ($36) at Center.  It was a toss-up between Howard and Stoudemire, but I like Amare’s matchup a little better.

At forward let’s go with Tim Duncan ($35) at one forward.  Duncan has been playing well and should keep it rolling.  Carlos Boozer ($35) gets a forward spot, although I’m not really comfortable with the selection.  I haven’t seen any reports on him having a health problem, so I’ll just chalk last night’s 16 FP performance up to a bad night.  Hakim Warrick ($14) gets the last forward spot.  Hakim saw some time on the bench, but still put up 20FP on Friday.  I’ll take that again today.

Andre Miller ($27) gets a guard spot.  Average night for Miller last night, but he has another good matchup today and is good value for only $27.  Manu Ginobili ($31) gets a guard spot.  Let’s see if he can come up with one of his big games at Milwaukee.  The last spot goes to Michael Redd ($31).  He has been shooting well lately, so let’s hope his has his stroke in this one.

Good luck and check back close to game time as there could be news on Boozer.

An Early Night

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

The first game tipped off at 7:00 pm and our night was over 9 minutes later when Chris Bosh went down with a knee injury and never returned.  While you can put in hours of work and call the contests ‘games of skill’, you still need a little luck to win.   Last night’s team put up 204 points with Iverson (48), B. Davis (22), A. Miller (24), Bosh (13), Warrick (20), Nowitzki (50) and Gasol (27).

At least in a daily league, you can say goobye to Bosh and start with a new team today.  For all the season long league guys who had Bosh, I feel your pain.

Only 5 NBA games today.  I’ll have the draft board up later today.

Fantasy Basketball Tournament Betting Roster for Friday 2/29

Our team is registered for 2 ten team tournaments today on FSL.  7 player, 220 point cap structure.

Putting Gasol ($31) at center.  Not many options at center today and Gasol is the best of the bunch.

I’m playing Hakim Warrick ($14) at one forward spot.  If he can give us 22-24FP, I’ll be happy.  Dirk Nowitzki ($36) gets a forward spot and Chris Bosh ($35) gets the last forward spot.  Bosh was a questionable call here as I could have gone with Garnett, Boozer, Al Jefferson or Anthony.  Jefferson’s matchup was bad, Boozer has a road game, Garnett may not get 35 minutes, and Anthony may or may not have a shoulder problem.  I’m going the safe route with Bosh.

At guard, I’m going with the red hot Andre Miller ($27), Allen Iverson ($38) and Baron Davis ($38).  Iverson gets a nice home game v. a soft LAC team and Baron will get big minutes in what could be a high scoring game in Philly.

Good luck and check out the blog every day for our tournament results.

Two money finishes for Thursday

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Both tournaments filled on Thursday and we managed a second and a third place finish.  The team wasn’t spectacular, but with only 3 NBA games, we did outperform the salary cap, putting up 220 points.  The team scored as follows:  Redd (37), Carter (28), Ginobili (25), Odom (30), Jefferson (30), Duncan (51) and Blount (19).

I will have today’s draft board up by noon and our picks shortly thereafter.  I also got more first base notes up on the baseball draft board.  I hoping to get into the second basemen later today, so check back.

Fantasy Basketball Tournament Roster for Thursday 2/28

I have signed up for 2 separate ten team tournaments on FSL, but I’m not sure that both will fill on such a thin NBA day.  We are playing a 7 player, 200 point cap game with the roster.

It all depends on the center position today.  Either go expensive with Gasol at $31 or cheap with Blount at $13.  I’m going with Blount.  Hopefully, he gets his 30 minutes and can put up 20-23FP.

Stick with Vince Carter ($32) at one guard.  He is running the team and will continue to get good minutes until it becomes clear that NJ won’t make the playoffs.  Michael Redd ($31) gets a guard spot.  Manu Ginobili ($31) gets the last guard spot.  I didn’t have enough money to get D. Wade and Manu was the best thing left on the board today.

I’m going with Richard Jefferson ($30) at one forward spot.  Ride him while he is hot.  Tim Duncan ($35) gets the second forward spot.  It was a tough decision between Duncan and Nowitzki, but the game being in San Antonio pushed me to choose Duncan.  Also, I don’t think either will have a big scoring night, and Duncan is the better bet to still put up good FP without the scoring category.  Lamar Odom ($27) gets the last forward spot.  The cap was low today and he was all I could afford.  I’ll be happy with an average 27FP night.

Good luck and check back close to game time for any updates.  Also, I’ll try and get some First Base baseball notes up later today.

Back in the Win Column

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Our contest roster took down the 10 team tournament yesterday scoring a first place win.  For some reason, just like Tuesday, only one of the ten team tournaments filled.   The roster put up 263 total points with Paul (51), A. Miller (40), Iguodala (38), Bosh (34), Boozer (31), Thornton (16) and Stoudemire (53).  The nice thing about these ten team tournaments is that you don’t have to win very often to make a profit.  50%  of the prize pool goes to the winner, 30% to second place and 20% to third place.     Every $1 that you bet produces $4 worth of profit with a win.

Only three NBA games today.  We will probably only be able to fill one ten team tournament with such a thin schedule.  I’ll be back at lunchtime with today’s draft board and our picks.  I’ll also try and get some baseball notes up for first base.  Check out the catcher notes from yesteday if you missed them.  Meanwhile, the snow continues to fall here.  I hate snow.
