Looks like our webhost has finally straightened out their technical problems and the blog and message board seem to be loading and operating properly. I’m getting up to speed on some baseball action and will be back in the next couple of weeks with some notes. I probably won’t be putting up daily posts until Mid May. I will be in Vegas for 10 days during the end of April and in Boca Raton for another week in the first part of May. After that, I should be able to get back to daily posts and draft boards for baseball.

Some sleepers who have caught my attention are Johnny Cueto, Edinson Volquez, Eugenio Velez, Asdrubal Cabrera, Manny Parra, Geovany Soto, J.R. Towles, Carlos Gomez, Howie Kendrick, Ryan Garko, Scott Hairston, Michael Bourn, Nate McLouth, Billy Butler, Adam Jones, Lastings Milledge, Jerry Owens and Yunel Escobar. If you are in a keeper league, these are some great young names to take a look at.

Today is the last day for basketball before we shut it down to get ready for baseball season in two weeks. I also have some technical issues to address with the site. Looks like I’m going to be forced to transfer to another webhost, as StartLogic’s service is just horrible.

We are playing one 10 team tournament today at FSL. The structure is a 7 player, 210 point cap game. When I put together today’s roster, several problems are becoming apparent as the season winds down. First, players on losing teams aren’t playing very hard and are just mailing it in waiting for the season to end. Second, players on winning teams are getting plenty of rest for the playoffs. Several of our players are at risk today of getting limited minutes, but what can you do? I can’t go with lower quality players just on the minutes risk. Fantasy basketball will get more unpredictable as the season comes to a close, which decreases your edge and expectation. Just be careful if you keep playing until the seasons end.

At center I’m going with Emeka Okafor ($27). This is the first time I’ve played Okafor all year, but the options are very limited today. Camby has seen his minutes fall to around 30 and he is a bit overpriced, so this left Okafor as the best option.

At guard, I’m sticking with T. McGrady ($32). He just keeps scoring and should have to score serious points to keep up with the Lakers. Joe Johnson ($30) gets a guard spot. I’m just riding the hot streak here. He gets a weak NY team and should have a good game. Ricky Davis ($20) gets the last guard spot. He is our cheapie roster filler for the day.

At forward I’m playing Lamar Odom ($28). Gasol is out and Ming is out, leaving Odom to dominate the middle. He should be good value for $28. Dirk Nowitzki ($36) gets a forward spot. Dirk scares me as his minutes are down and Dallas will probably blow out a depleted Miami team. This is one of those end of season risks that you just can’t do much about. Carmelo Anthony ($36) gets the last forward spot. He may also find himself on the bench for the fourth quarter, but the options at forward today are thin.

Good luck. I will start posting daily baseball notes on the blog over the coming weeks as we get ready for baseball season.

We are playing one 10 team tournament on FSL today. The structure is a 7 player, 210 point cap game.

At center I’m going with Amare Stoudemire ($36). I think either Stoudemire or Howard both make a good play today, but I think Stoudemire might be a little healthier and more rested.

At guard, I’m going with D. Williams ($31). He has been hot and the assists are nice. B. Roy ($31) gets a guard spot. He is the primary option for Portland and has a nice home matchup. Monta Ellis ($29) gets the last guard spot. He has been hot and has a good home matchup.

At forward I’m going with Al Thornton ($17). He is our cheap roster filler today. Hedo Turkoglu ($30) gets a forward spot. He is solid and dependable and has a home matchup v. a weak and small Indiana team. Tim Duncan ($35) gets the last forward spot. He should matchup well with Philadelphia.

Good luck. Remember, tomorrow is the last day for basketball. We will be addressing some technical issues over the next two weeks and return for the start of baseball season.

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments with our Fantasy Basketball Roster today. The game is a 7 player, 210 point cap game on FSL.

At center, I’m going with Pau Gasol ($31). He has been inconsistent lately, but this should be a close game and Gasol will get big minutes and will be looked to for some scoring. The center position is thin today and the next best player was likely Okafor or Murphy, neither of whom I feel comfortable with.

My cheapie for the day is Ricky Davis ($20). D. Wade is gone, so Davis has taken over running the offense and has scored 27 in his last three. He should be able to give us 23-25FP for his $20 salary and makes a nice roster filler. T. McGrady ($32) gets a guard spot. The primary scoring option for the Rockets and I just couldn’t pass him up. The last guard spot goes to Joe Johnson ($30). He is trying to get that last playoff spot for the Hawks and is playing hard. He should get 40 minutes and I’m just going to keep riding him until he lets me down.

At one forward I’m going with Carmelo Anthony ($36). Iverson has a finger injury that is really hurting his shooting ability and Melo may be the beneficiary of some extra looks on offense that would normally go to Iverson. Denver is in a fight for that last playoff spot and can’t afford to lose this game, so Anthony should get good minutes. Toronto is a decent team and should be able to keep it close, especially without Iverson at full strength. Hedo Turkoglu ($30) gets a forward spot. He should be able to do some real damage from outside v. a weak Heat team. D. Howard has a bruised quad, so Orlando may go small for some of the game, which really helps Turkoglu. Corey Maggette ($30) gets the last forward spot. I had $30 left to spend and he was the best option available. He gets a matchup with a Hawks team that can run the floor, so hopefully Maggette can just have an average night and earn his $30 worth of FP.

Good Luck.

10 NBA games on the schedule today. I’ll have the boards and picks up by lunch.

This is probably the last week for basketball as the season is winding down and baseball is getting started. It becomes increasingly difficult to handicap fantasy contests when many of the best players will be held out of games to rest before the playoffs. That unpredictability really destroys your edge in these contests.

I have also posted some additional second base notes and hope to have that position finished this afternoon.

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments today with our Fantasy Basketball Tournament Roster. The structure is a 7 player, 200 point cap on FSL.

As many good gamblers know, sometimes the best bet on certain days is no bet. Today is one of those days. The talent is thin and what little talent there is out there is either hurting or extremely inconsistent. That makes days like today pretty much a crapshoot without any real positive expectation or edge. But I’ll forge on because that is why you are here.

At center, spend the money and go with A. Stoudemire ($36). There just aren’t any other options.

Put LeBron James ($48) at forward. On a thin day you just can’t leave him off your roster. If he goes off like he did last night and he isn’t on your roster, no matter what other players you pick, you can’t win. Andersen Varejao ($19) gets a forward spot. He is filling in for Ilgauskas and gets at least 30 minutes. We need the salary cap to be able to start LeBron and Stoudemire. Ron Artest ($32) gets a forward spot. I do not like Artest today, but the choice was between him and LaMarcus Aldridge. A subpar Artest game is probably equal to a good Aldridge game.

At guard I’m going with Delonte West ($13). Strictly cheap roster filler to get LeBron and Stoudemire on the team. I expect absolutely nothing out of West tonight, so any points will be a bonus. Brandon Roy ($31) gets a guard spot. This was a tough decision between Roy and Nash. I love Nash’s matchup, but Roy is the focus for Portland and will get his stats. I don’t think you could really go wrong with either. The last guard spot goes to Beno Udrih ($21). Another salary cap cheapie just to get the two big guns on the team. Maybe we get lucky with Udrih, who knows.

Good luck. Remember to sign up for the FSH Fantasy baseball league over on the Fantasy Forum message boards in the fantasy baseball thread. Baseball season is quickly approaching.
Williams continue to ride their hot streaks.

Thin schedule with only 3 NBA games today. I’ll be back at lunch with the daily draft board and picks. I also got some more second base notes up on the fantasy baseball homepage and maybe I can finish that up today so check it out.

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments today on FSL with our Fantasy Basketball Betting Roster. The structure is a 7 player, 210 point cap game.

At center, I’m sticking with the red hot Mehmet Okur ($21). I’d love to have D. Howard, but just didn’t have the salary cap today. Okur has been producing like an elite center over his last couple of games and hopefully he can keep it going for another game.

I’m going with LeBron James ($48) at one forward. I just can’t resist that chance of a 50+FP game. Hedo Turkoglu ($30) gets a forward spot. He has a home game against a soft Clippers team and has been playing well. Charlie Villanueva ($16) gets a forward spot. He is only on the team to make cap room for LeBron. He has been playing well lately, so maybe we will get lucky and catch a good game from Charlie.

Tracy McGrady ($32) is at guard. I can’t pass up the leading scorer for the hottest team in the NBA. Joe Johnson ($30) gets a guard spot. Johnson has been hot and I’m going to ride him for another game. I think this game may stay fairly close and Johnson should get a full 40 minutes. The last guard spot goes to Deron Williams ($31). Hopefully, he can keep the turnovers under control in this one.

Good luck. Don’t forget to sign up for the FSH Fantasy Baseball league over on the message boards. My webhost is still working on the slowness issues with the blog and message board, so hopefully that will be resolved in the next day or so. It is really annoying, but I’m just a little fish in the pond so it looks like I’m at the end of the help list, LOL.
