Fantasy Basketball Roster Update

March 11th, 2008 at 4:49 pm by Tippy

Looks like Al Jefferson may be hurting with a bad ankle as he missed practice on Monday.  Just to be safe I am replacing him with Carlos Boozer at the same $36 salary.

Good luck.

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments on FSL with our fantasy basketball betting roster today.  The structure is a 7 player, 210 point cap game.

I’m starting Hakim Warrick ($15) at forward.  He makes a nice low priced roster filler and he allows us enough cap room to play Kobe at Guard.  He can have the occasional big night on his own and he should be looked to for points in what might be a high scoring contest.  Put Al Jefferson ($36) at one forward and A. Jamison ($35) at the other forward.  Jefferson has a nice home matchup against a soft Portland team while Jamison remains the primary scoring option in Washington.

Play Kobe Bryant ($41) at a guard spot.  Kobe has disappointed in his last two, but the talent at guard today is thin so he should put us ahead of other teams at guard that don’t play him.  The other two guard spots go to Michael Redd ($31) and Deron Williams ($31).

Put Mehmet Okur ($21) at center.  I ran out of money and Okur was the best option left on the board.  He has been playing well so let’s see if he has one more good game in him.

Good luck.  I’m still trying to get the issues with the slow loading of the blog and message board resolved.  You can get the picks on the basketball homepage on the main website if you have trouble with the blog.

Third place finish for Monday

March 11th, 2008 at 7:38 am by Tippy

We had a third place finish on Monday with an average performance of 214 total points.  The team totals were Alston (18), J. Johnson (35), McGrady (27), LeBron (45), Maggette (22), Turkoglu (44) and Perkins (23).  Turkoglu and James both had triple doubles.  McGrady and Alston  got some 4th quarter bench time as Houston was winning big, which didn’t help our totals.  Al Thornton scored 34FP and was the real killer as every team finishing above us had him going.  He is big risk and big reward but makes you look smart when he is on.

I’ll be back at lunchtime with today’s draft boards and picks.

Fantasy Basketball Tournament Roster for Monday 3/10

We are playing 2 ten team tournaments today on FSL.  Both tournaments are 7 player, 210 point cap games.

There were several good ways to build a team today.  The two best ways were either with Dwight Howard or LeBron James.  I’m taking Lebron and pairing him with Kendrick Perkins at center.  The other option was to pair up Howard and Luis Scola to make the salary cap work.  Play Kendrick Perkins ($14) at center.  I haven’t paid much attention to Perkins and neither has anyone else, as I haven’t seen him played in any tournaments over the last couple of weeks.  He has put up four double doubles in a row and barely missed a fifth.  If he can just give us 18-20FP today I’ll be happy.  His only real purpose for being on the team is to allow us  enough salary cap to play LeBron.

Put LeBron James ($48) at forward.  I don’t normally like paying a quarter of my total budget for one player, but when that player consistently puts up a quarter of your total day’s points, you have to make an exception.  I have found myself losing lately to the teams who are playing LeBron.  On those nights when he puts up 50+FP, you just can’t make up the difference no matter what other players you have on your team.  Corey Maggette ($30) gets a forward spot.  He is the Clippers primary scoring option and he gets a matchup with a Heat team that is just playing out the season.    The last forward spot goes to Hedo Turkoglu ($30).  It was a tough decision between Turkoglu and Richard Jefferson, but Turk has the home game against a softer team.

At guard, I’m going with T. McGrady ($32) and R. Alston ($23).  This is one of those rare occasions where I’ll put two players from the same team on my roster.  They are working well together and usually account for about 60-65% of Houston’s scoring on most nights.  Alston’s low salary was needed today since we are playing with a 210 point cap rather than the normal 220 points.  The last forward spot was a tough decision between Joe Johnson and Manu Ginibili.  I’m going with Johnson since he has been on a real hot streak.  He should get 40 minutes as the Hawks will be trying desperately to keep up with Orlando.  D. Howard isn’t going to allow Atlanto to score inside, so Johnson should be bombing away from the perimeter.  I don’t think you could go wrong with Ginobili either, but his decrease in minutes scares me.

Good luck.

Second place finish

March 10th, 2008 at 7:45 am by Tippy

We had a pretty good tournament for Sunday finishing in second place.  The team put up 239 total points with Kobe (37), A. Miller (33), Udrih (37), Duncan (33), Odom (32), Villanueva (33) and A. Stoudemire (34).   Very similar performances from all team members.

I’m having some problems with the blog loading very slowly.  The tournament picks are also listed on the basketball homepage of the main website, so you can find them there if the blog continues to load slowly.

Today’s draft boards are up.  I’ll post our tournament picks later this morning.

Only playing one ten team tournament today on FSL.  7 player, 200 point cap.

I’m going with Amare Stoudemire ($36).  I don’t really like the matchup, but the salary just worked in such a way where I had the extra money.

At guard, put Kobe Bryant ($40) at one spot.  The best talent on the board and should get good stats in a home game.  Beno Udrih ($20) gets a guard spot.  He has quietly been very good and can have big games.  He faces a high scoring Laker team and they may find themselves in an up tempo game, which works nicely for Udrih.  With today’s low 200 point cap, Udrih makes a nice filler.  Andre Miller ($27) gets the final guard spot.  Andre has been a bit disappointing lately but gets a soft Milwaukee team and should be able to put up average stats.

I’m going with Tim Duncan ($36) at one forward spot.  He hasn’t been showing much lately and he has a matchup with Amare Stoudemire and Shaq, but he was the best talent on the board.  Lamar Odom ($27) gets a spot.  Charlie Villanueva ($15) gets the last forward spot.  I’m just gambling on a good game from Charlie.  I’ll probably be happy if he just earns his 15FP.

Good luck.

Good Performance but no Money

March 9th, 2008 at 9:53 am by Tippy

We had a pretty good performance Saturday, but missed the money by 9 points.  The team put up a total of 266 points with B. Davis (48), McGrady (55), D. Williams (30), C. Anthony (32), Maggette (28), Turkoglu (29) and Okur (44).

There are 5 NBA games today with the first game tipping off at 2:00pm.  I’ll be back at lunch witht he draft board and picks.

Registered for 1 ten team tournament today with games starting at 1:00pm.  7 player, 220 point cap.

At center, I’m going with Mehmet Okur ($21).  Should be a high scoring game and Okur should be good value for the low price tag.

At guard I’m going with Baron Davis ($38), Tracy McGrady ($32) and Deron Williams ($31).

At forward, Carmelo Anthony ($36), Corey Maggette ($30) and Hedo Turkoglu ($30)

Good luck.
